Hami Plastic, a Song Cong City based manufacturer is collaborating with Hanoi based artist Le Giang.
Exploring recycled plastic Making
Le Giang has partnered with a local plastic recycling company, Hami Plastic, about one and a half hours north west of Hanoi in Thái Nguyên province. Nestled amongst the rice fields and other farmlets, Hami is a family run business that focused on using recycled plastic which is made into pellets and powder to reform into new products.
Le Giang will make some experiments with processes and colours before developing her creative works.
Le Giang
Born 1988 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Le Giang pursued her B.A in Art Education at Vietnam Universi-ty of Fine Art and M.A in Studio Practice at Camberwell College, University of the Arts London, UK. Le Giang explores the hypothesis that there could be a future with no humanity, with only barren structures and ruined remnants of human being. She practices with different mediums such as installations, sculptures to drawings and painting with the subjects range from found artefacts to ruin architectures
HaMI PLASTIC
Hami is a family business that has three sites, a factory in Song Cong Industrial Zone, another facility in a predominately rural area and finally is some machines and materials at the family mixed use farm, all in Thái Nguyên province. Hami uses plastic that is sourced from other manufacturers, either directly or through a central organisation that manages clean waste. Hami’s team is expert at turning this waste into quality colourful products.
